Architecture can be a field where “anything goes,” and as creative problem solvers, architects will dream up many answers to one design question.
We are open to discussing all sizes of projects, including master planning or schemes, or as a consultant during an ongoing construction process.
Typically, an owner retains an architect to provide comprehensive design.
This often includes the interior architecture, or the built-in portion of interior design (cabinetry, tile and stone, plumbing, etc.)
A comprehensive design process generally involves the following phases:
-
Schematic Design
We develop the overall concept with you. We generate inspiration images and sketches. We create a variety of schemes and work with you to nail down the “big moves” of the building.
-
Design Development
We refine our design with you further. We develop the elements to flesh out further design questions. We engage engineers and other consultants as needed. We begin to explore the interior of the building as well.
-
Construction Drawings
The core of our work is developing a comprehensive set of drawings that accurately and efficiently detail the scope of the project. These drawings must be technically complete, meet all applicable local, state, and national codes, and most importantly capture the owner’s vision for a beautiful product. These drawings can be used to obtain pricing from potential general contractors, submit for a building permit, and construct the project.
-
Construction Administration
We particularly enjoy participating in the entire construction process. This is the best way to ensure the owner’s original vision is fully executed. We like to meet on-site with the owner and contractor regularly (at least bi-weekly) from beginning to end of construction, and in between we remain in constant contact.
